Overview: This right here is my model 1 Sega Genesis. The console released in the U.S. in 1989 making it one of the first 16-bit consoles to hit the market. With it wielding a 7.6 Mhz CPU, 64KB of RAM, and arcade graphics (wow!), it blew the competition at the time away! Despite being a modern 16-bit system, it wasn't able to compete with nintendo, until a certain blue hedgehog came to the scene. With the release of Sonic the Hedgehog in 1991, the Sega Genesis's popularity exploded and it became a very formitable competitor to Nintendo's SNES. Overall, the console lasted until 1998, which is 9 years after the console first released in the U.S. I managed to get this console last Christmas so I don't have too much stuff for it, but hopefully I could get some more games someday as right now I only have 2.
Condition: The Genesis I have is in pretty good condition with it being in complete working order with just a few scuffs here and there. One thing that is a pain to deal with would be dust, as since it's black, it's visible on it, so if I want it to look nice I'll have to get the duster which sucks.
Models:
Model 1: Releasing back in 1989, the model 1 Sega Genesis has many things that make it different compared to its other models. It is the only sega genesis to have a built in headphone jack, is compatible with nearly all of the accessories that released on the system and has a built in RF modulator. Unfortunately though, It only outputs in stereo through the headphone jack. Overall, this is the best Sega Genesis to get as long as you don't mind having to listen to its music in mono.
Model 2: It released back in 1993, and is significantly smaller than model 1 and has the ability to output stereo audio through its composite. It is also lacking an RF modulator, a headphone jack and has worse compatiblity with accessories such as the Sega CD and the power base converter.
Model 3: Releasing back in 1998 by Majesco, it was the smallest Sega Genesis ever made being almost smaller then your average cartridge. With how small it is their are some compromises, as it is incompatible with most of the accessories released for the genesis including the 32X and Sega CD.
